You must complete the online form

As part of preparing your financial statements, you're also required to complete an accounts return (AR).

The online form will be available from the 4 November and your deadline to submit is 25 January 2022.

You can find information about preparing your financial statements in this article.

Use the ESFA's guidance for this year’s return.

Who's involved?

There are 3 roles required:

  • Super user - an administrative role who manages the IDAMS registration system, for example to invite new users
  • Internal accounts return approver* (a trustee) - who enters the data on behalf of your trust and approves it. They're responsible for making sure the data is accurate
  • External auditor approver - who reviews the data and if happy, approves and submits to the ESFA. If changes are required, they can send to the internal approver for amendments

* You may have an internal 'preparer' who completes the data. But you need an approver.
